Ken Isted

Ken was born and raised in London’s East End, where he discovered his passion for music at a very early age. As a child, he began experimenting with rhythm on his father’s pre-war drum kit.

At the age of 15, he joined his first band, which went on to win a Radio Luxembourg talent show, earning a Decca recording contract as first prize. Although several tracks were recorded at the Decca studios in London, none were ultimately released. In 1966, the band moved to Germany, performing on the U.S. Forces club circuit for more than three years.

Over the years, Ken has played with numerous bands, including *The Modern Sounds*, *Channel Worker*, *Choice*, *The BK Blues Band*, *Paradocs*, *Alma Project*, *Goober*, *New Tricks*, and *The High Knees*. He has also worked extensively as a studio musician in both the UK and Germany.

His musical influences include Ginger Baker, John Bonham, Buddy Rich, Neil Peart, Simon Phillips, Steve Gadd, and Keith Moon. Ken has been a Sempiternus endorser since February 2018 and currently plays a 14” x 8” Doga Classica in Custom Deep Blue.
